Ser migrante temporal, mexicano católico en Estados Unidos y Canadá

Este documento es un primer acercamiento a la forma cómo los migrantes mexicanos temporales llevan a cabo sus prácticas religiosas en Estados Unidos y Canadá a partir de la experiencia de vivir un proceso migratorio internacional, de enfrentar situaciones de vulnerabilidad (y a veces de violencia simbólica, verbal o física) y de llegar a un país multicultural con una gran diversidad de creencias y actos religiosos. La contextualización de estas situaciones externas al migrante permite destacar el matiz lleno de contrastes que se observa en sus prácticas y la capacidad de actuar de éstos en esos ambientes. Para analizar los datos etnográficos obtenidos en Estados Unidos y en Canadá, se parte de la Teoría de la Estructuración de Anthony Giddens y de la perspectiva centrada en el actor de N. Long; propuestas teóricas no enfocadas en el análisis de fenómenos religiosos, pero que son útiles para, actualmente, entender procesos más complejos en este campoDownloads
