Estudios sociales contemporáneos sobre el espiritismo argentino. Ciencia, religión e institucionalización del espíritu

El artículo explora los estudios sociales realizados sobre el espiritismo en Argentina, y analiza material empírico adicional relacionado con áreas de investigación planteadas por estos trabajos. En particular, se identifican cuatro expresiones históricas del espiritismo: kardecismo, Escuela Científica Basilio, Escuela Magnético Espiritual de la Comuna Universal, y culto a la Madre María. En este sentido, el análisis se focaliza sobre tres aspectos específicos. El primero analiza el origen europeo y los elementos cristianos presentes así como la moralidad implícita; el segundo refiere a la tensión entre ciencia y religión en los procesos de auto definición institucional; y, el tercero se aproxima a la institucionalización del carisma espírita a través de la aplicación de dispositivos burocráticos.
