El artículo muestra la compleja relación entre religión y política que se observa en situaciones concretas impulsadas por cristianos no católicos. Cuestiona la relativa ausencia de los evangélicos en la arena pública y ofrece argumentos sobre cómo han logrado insertarse en la acción política. Particularmente, aborda la experiencia vivida por evangélicos indígenas mayas del estado de Chiapas, en el sureste mexicano, cuya práctica reivindica la libertad de credo en un escenario de pluralidad religiosa.
