El protestantismo colombiano: sus orígenes, luchas y expansión (1856-1991)

Los protestantes en sus múltiples denominaciones se han convertido en la segunda fuerza religiosa de Colombia gracias a su permanente proselitismo mediático y a su presencia en todos los escenarios sociales y políticos del país, un crecimiento que terminó por disputarle fieles al catolicismo tradicionalista. Con el ánimo de comprender su expansión y subdivisiones en la revisión historiográfica, se buscó describir y analizar el proceso histórico por medio del cual los protestantes en todas sus denominaciones lograron ampliar el campo religioso colombiano. Para ello, se consideró oportuno hacer una síntesis histórica, y en su narración explicar los principales conceptos que intentan definir el campo protestante. La investigación se basó en una revisión exhaustiva de la bibliografía existente sobre el protestantismo en Colombia y en una revisión documental sobre lo escrito por los protestantes y sus contradictores católicos. En las conclusiones se insiste en afirmar que los protestantes lograron crecer exponencialmente gracias a su fragmentación y posterior conformación en iglesias nacionales de talante carismático y pentecostal.
